Christmas Day
So Christmas is the one Holiday where from May on I am sooo excited, I don't sleep Christmas Eve because I am soo excited. Then at about 10 a.m. Christmas morning I am so tired I am ready for it to be over. Grant woke up not in the mood for anything. He refused to ride his new bike and really didn't care much for anything he got. Lucie was complete opposite. When we got to my mom's house we opened presents and my mom made each of the kids a big care bear. I thought Lucie would love it and Grant would just be okay with it. Wrong. Grant loves it. He wrestles with it, jumps over it, gives it a piggie back ride, etc. Lucie likes hers to just sit there and watch her play. The bear is as big as she is and probably weighs about as much she does. Just so you all know we did take her to the doctor yesterday because she wasn't feeling good and she weighs 26.6 pounds now(with clothing and shoes on-but she is getting there)!! Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve we have the "Brownies"(santa's helpers)come and give the kids a new pair of Christmas Pajamas to wear Christmas Eve night. So this year since the kids are getting older I really stressed the "Brownies" so they would understand. Grant pulled out his pajamas and his book and continued to look in his bag and then asked us where his brownies were!! I believe my parents started this therefor, thank you mom and dad for confusing future young generations!! I also got a very soft robe and really soft socks from Santa's helper. Again Grant wanted nothing to do with pictures, reminds me a lot of his uncle Blake(my big brother). Hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!!!
Christmas cookies for Santa
I do understand why Santa can stay up all night long, and why he is so big. If every child makes santa cookies like mine do(which I do believe they do) then there is a MOUNTAIN of frosting and sprinkles on top. Their cousin Havalynne was over making cookies-whose turned out very nice and they all thought it was so funny how Lucie managed to get more frosting in her mouth then on the cookie. I think maybe next year we should treat Santa-or Mrs Claus to a foot rub and back massage!! I am sure all the Mrs. Claus's out there would agree to this one!!!

Monsters in our house
We don't let our son watch scary movies, or violent movies, but lately he has been on a monster kick. On Saturday I heard him saying "hi-yeah" over and over so I went in the kitchen to see him practicing his monster fighting skills with a green pack-n-play stick and pick mittens on(the pink mittens must be an intimidation factor). He told me that he was going to fight the monsters that were going to come up from the basement. A little later he tied a toy to his belt and dangled down the basement steps. He is also very persistent on leaving the basement door open and the light on. He tells Lucie and I that he is going to fight the monster and we can hide. He will also just sit on the couch and watch TV with his pink mittens on!!
Then today we were making sugar cookies and Grant asked for some dough and I thought he was going to go upstairs and eat it, so I gave him some(that is part of the fun of cooking). About 15 minutes later I found a trail of cookie dough on each step going upstairs. And again I asked what he did-knowing the answer that I will get and sure enough he said "Mom that is for the monster to come up and I will fight him."
It is so funny, he isn't a violent fighter and he doesn't fight everyone-he is a very gentle child but for whatever reason he feels he is here to rid us of our monsters. So for everyone out there who is trying to catch a monster-try cookie dough-it might work for us!!!

A makeshift slide on a snowy day!
As a parent I often times think that what my kids are doing may not be the smartest thing to do. But they have to be kids, therefor my children are sliding down my stairs on a crib mattress. It is snowing and rather cold outside so we are trying to make the most of being inside! Of course I am making them do it the safe way by putting couch pillows at the bottom. Lucie went down once, and is now thinking better of it and just sits at the bottom of the stairs. Grant thinks it is the funniest thing ever. Kids will be kids!!

Santa
Santa made a house call to my sisters house on Friday, so of course we went. Grant was okay with him and Lucie absolutly wanted nothing to do with him. Of course I made her go by him for a quick picture-that I was in as well and then to get her present. Which my sister was pushing her back so she could meet Santa half way to get it. Then today we woke up and I got the kids dressed nice so I could take Christmas pictures, I told the kids if they listen to me Santa will come bring them presents in a couple of weeks, to which Lucie said "No I don't like Santa". I never did get a good picture-not even with a lollipop bribe.
We decided to buy a video camera for our BIG present so I am going to figure out how it works and hopefully put video up soon.
Lucie is more or less potty trained. Yeah, no more diapers(she just likes to wear boy underwear-shrek and donkey being her favorite). On the down side my baby is growing up. Very Sad. I will be a horrible basket case when they grow up and move out, I can see it coming already. Lucie has some very weird things she does.
Daddy babysat last night while I went to a "tupperware" party, and mommy came home to find that Lucie had put her makeup all over her, the TV, the wall, the comforter. Daddy tries, but I do believe Lucie will always find a way to be naughty. Sorry no pics of that. Daddy didn't think to take a pic, mommy would have gotten the new video camera and documented every last bit of it. We love daddy for trying though.

Where does Santa come from??
I don't know who my son has been talking to, but he informed me yesterday that Santa was coming down a pole soon to give him toys. There are two people that I know of that come down poles-firefighters, and.......NOT Santa. Apparently the Santa at my house does. I tried to explain that he Lives at the North POLE, but of course when you are 3 your mind is already made up. I can't wait to see how the Easter Bunny comes!!!

Shower Fun and Ho Ho HO
Sledding, Shoveling, Snowballs
Well we got our first significant snowfall. It snowed about 6 inches and then decided to sleet and rain on top of it. Shoveling the next morning we broke two shovels because it was so heavy and icy. But before the icy sleet started we played in it a little. The kids had a blast, Grant didn't even mind wearing purple snowpants because his blue ones were at Grandma's. We went sledding down our back hill and just had a blast. Everyone had sled races, Lucie shoveled and Grant enjoyed licked snow off a stick(to each there own)!! Sorry two pics of Lucie-can't figure out how to get one off
