Frosty and Sickle

So our second official snow of the year was great, last year we never got a "good" snow. Some may say there is never a "good" snow, every time it snowed the kids asked to make a snowman and we never did because the snow wasn't good enough. When you are three and four the BEST snow ever is the heavy wet snow. Today in a matter of hours we got enough snow to make an awesome snowman. I had to start the snowballs but then the kids could do it themselves. Once the snowman was done we got a celery stick for nose a hunter orange hat, leaves for eyes and woodchips for the mouth. We got done, named him Frosty and Grant said in a really sad voice, "Mom we need to make another one so he isn't lonely." Ahh, he is so sweet. I however didn't want to make another snowman.

So instead we made him a pet dog called Sickle-short for Icicle

Grant loves his little snowdog!!!

Christmas Parade!!

We just went to the Christmas Parade in a nearby town(grafton), we had heard it was really good so we decided to give it a try. Before the parade we made letters for Santa that we handed to his "helpers" in the parade.
The kids waited so nice for the parade, they also had a fund raiser where Josh got us hot dogs, so that bought us a little time also!!

We got there 45 minutes early and let the kids run around, a lot of people had come early to save spots but we found what we thought was a really good spot, but this is what we saw....

I was soo frustrated because they stood right to the left of us in the road the whole time so we couldn't see anything until it was right in front of us.

Lucie was in Heaven because she got a hug from a snowman, a picture with Cinderella, and Tinkerbell sprinkled her with fairy dust/glitter-my camera wasn't ready for that one. Grant loved getting candy from a pirate, his favorite part was a dancing group from Chicago that had a lot of boys in it. He talked alot about that, and they were very good.

We got soo much candy it looked like halloween again.

When all was said and down, we saw military people, clowns, princesses, pirates, dancers, bands, candy, a HUGE pirate ship, Santa, dogs, a real life walking nativity(with real camels, donkey, Mary, Joseph, Wise men, etc.)-which was really cool. Everyone in the parade was sooo friendly-they would walk up to you, wait for a picture to be taken, they would talk to you. It was a very family oriented parade. The parade was 1 1/2 hours long and it was one of the best parades I have been to. There were soo many different things there, yet we didn't get alot of flyers and junk. It says a lot if you can keep Lucie's attention for 1 1/2 hours. Anyone local I would highly suggest the Grafton Christmas Parade for next year!!

Spikey Hair?

I decided to try to spike Grants hair, he loves it. He has his dads habit of twirling his hair when he is tired so I have always kept it really short. Well I decided to try it a little longer and spike it. I think it is pretty cute! Lucie saw a camera and thinks she needs to be in every pic.

In the afternoon we started our holiday fun and went to my sisters house to paint some glass ornaments.

Our First Snowfall!!

So we just got our first "real" snowfall of this winter. We just barely got enough to cover the ground, the snow on grass stayed but the snow on the sidewalk and roads quickly turned to ice(which made Josh get home one hour late.) When Josh got home he took the kids out for a couple of minutes. Just long enough to make snow angels, run circles and lick the snow off the different items in the yard that were never taken inside. The kids were sooo excited for the snow!!

A fun weekend with "TWINS"

This weekend we got to watch Ava (my brothers little girl) while him and Tabatha went on a little mini-vacation. It was soo much fun. Lucie had soo much fun with a little girl around to play with all the time. They went down the stairs on their bums, played babies(ALOT), and had a fun little sleepover. They are both beat right now and sleeping on the couch! They are only four months apart so I kind of felt like I had twins!!

Grant came downstairs and asked how to spell NO, I asked why and he said he was going to make a sign that said "NO little kids allowed" and put it on his door. I showed him and he copied it, and then he drew two little people on his picture-one of Lucie and one of AVA, and he taped it to his door, he then very proudly showed the girls. Lucie then came down and asked for a piece of paper so she could put "NO big kids" on her door.

THE look and a drive home!

This is one of the few posts I will do that is not about my kids, but being a kid. As a kid I knew everything, just ask me-I would have told you. Time after time my parents would sit back, watch me make mistakes and help me learn, grow, and love me anyway.

I remember being warned not to leave West Bend one night as a teenager, but I knew better and ended up two hours away, lost, alone in the middle of the night. I made a phone call and my dad came to pick me up-he was rather quiet but gave me THE look, and drove me home.

A few years later right after I graduated high school I moved to Chicago with a friend of mine, I KNEW it was the right decision. Four months later I made a phone call late at night and the next morning, there was my dad he drove down to Chicago, he was rather quiet but gave me THE look and drove me home.

This was my life, I KNEW everything, and time after time, after being "right" there were my parents with THE look, and usually driving me home.

I am 30 now, and have things changed??

Well that leads me to today, it was a beautiful November day, almost 70 degrees, so when I got done at work I decided to take my kids to a park that is on the way home and kind of out in the country, so of course I was the only one there. About five minutes after I got there a car pulled up next to the van and a guy got out and put his chair RIGHT next to my car and just sat there watching me and the kids.
After thinking for a minute I called my dad, told him about the man and he said "I am in the area, I will be there in 3 to 4 minutes." For anyone who knows my dad, he isn't the strongest or fastest person out there, but he pulled up, gave me THE same look, and followed me and the kids home.

What is "THE LOOK", it is unconditional love and safety! I am soo grateful to have parents that love me and that would do anything for me. I am sure that nothing would have happened, and I am not sure why my dad was in the area BUT I am so glad he was so he could, give me THE look, and follow me home.
I love you mom and dad!!

Maybe tomorrow this will be us. Not because of my vote.

One of those days!!!!

It has been one of those days where I feel like I am getting nothing done, my kids have faught about EVERYTHING!! Just when I think "wow-it is quiet they must be getting along, there they go AGAIN, and AGAIN, and AGAIN. After a long day it is five o'clock and we have friends coming over for dinner but I just want to go to bed, so I go into the front room where we have our big sectional couch. This is our couch

And this is what I find.....
"
Awwww, that is so cute, I love my kids!!

Halloween-finally!

Our town always does Trick or Treating the Sunday before Halloween, so it just dragged on this year, I am so glad it is over!! I feel like we had Halloween overkill this year. Yesterday we had our church Halloween party, the kids had a blast. I signed my dad up for Trunk or Treating and I think he had tons of fun also!! We were able to bring my brothers little girl, Ava-who was also Tinkerbell, so Lucie and Ava had a blast!!

These are the outfits my mom made for Lucie and baby LuLu, Grant and Josh have a matching tie also but I didn't have my camera last sunday, so this were taken on Thursday!!

A man at our church has a little tractor type ride that he does for the kids at all of our church parties.

I love this picture, my dad was waiting to start Trunk or Treating, it's adorable!!

Besides mom(he is a big momma's boy) Grant has two "girl" loves, Havalynne(his favorite person EVER), and a little girl at church called Sarah, this is him and Sara running around at the party!!
